Your son/daughter has the opportunity to attend the recruit section FTX (Field Training Exercise) on Salisbury Plain, from 16-17 March 2019. They will be practicing their Skill at Arms training with blank firing exercises, and learning new fieldcraft skills, while ‘living in the field’ for 36 hours.

March can have some fairly unpredictable weather and we will assess its suitability nearer the time. The cadets will erect their own ‘basha’ or army shelter and will cook for themselves from army issue ration packs. We have booked hard shelter in the form of several barns should we need them.

Please can you ensure that your child has an extra, warm layer, good gloves and socks and a good quality, warm sleeping bag for this event. A full kit list will be published on the CCF website nearer the time.

Please can you also ensure that we are up to date with any medical conditions or food requirements. The ration packs do cater for vegetarians but anything else will need to be discussed with staff beforehand.

Please also note timings for this event. Cadets will need to arrive at Pates on Saturday 16th March at 0700 and will disperse on Sunday 17th at 1800.

This weekend is solely for Year 9 training, with Senior Cadet Instructors assisting
